Joel Byron Barker

A writer with a toolbox chock full of pegs both square and round.

We call it “instructional design” these days.  It is the composition of training materials.  Good online and in-person training require well organized information and the use of proven teaching techniques to make it as easy as possible on the student.

I like to take the model of training and use it as a marketing tool as well.  Show your product in action and engage the customer with useful material.

BlueVolt and Hadco Lighting

Wrote and produced online product training using narration, slides, video, and interactivity to present Hadco lighting products to their distributors and contractors.

Microsoft Learning

Created courses to train IT professionals in SQL Server, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Storage Server.  Worked within strict Microsoft instructional design guidelines.
